Notes: According to a history of the Hebrew Tabernacle Association published at its 111th anniversary at https://hebrewtabernacle.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/61/2018/07/2018-07-06History111thAnniversaryJournal.pdf, the congregation was established at 218 West 130th Street, a sisterhood established, and a Sunday school opened in 1905, and the congregation was incorporated in 1906. In 1921, the congregation moved to 161st Street. In 1930, it became affiliated with Reform Judaism. In 1951, it moved to 551 Fort Washington Ave. According to the 1907/1908 American Jewish Year Book, the Hebrew Tabernacle was then located at 218 West 130th Street, had been incorporated in 1906, had 105 members, held services, and had a school and a sisterhood with 125 members. According to the Jewish Communal Register (1917/1918), the Hebrew Tabernacle was then located at 218 West 130th Street and had a congregational Sunday school with 200 boys, 150 girls, and a staff of 9 teachers. A separate entry shows the Hebrew Tabernacle Association, a conservative synagogue located at 220 West 130th Street that had been organized in 1905, offered an English sermon, had a membership of 90, seating capacity of 350, a Hebrew school, a sisterhood, and a Young Folks’ League. According to the 1939 WPA Survey, the Hebrew Tabernacle of Washington Heights was then located in a Byzantine-style red brick building dedicated in 1931 at 614 West 161st Street and was a comparatively young congregation, having been organized in 1931.
