There was a congregation organized in 1911 as the Smotrecher Benevolent Association. In 1913, another congregation of older Jews from Smotrech organized the Smotrecher Chevra Cadishe. About 1934, the Smotrecher Benevolent Association merged with the Smotrecher Chevra Cadisha.
